The image below is an image of much wider North America nebula which the cyngus wall is a part of. You can see the distinctive 'm' shape of the cygnus wall in the centre left portion of the annotated image below (Click image to open larger version).
About the image:
This is the Cygnus wall, a beautiful and complex structure of gas and dust which makes up part of the much larger North America Nebula. The Cygnus wall is where the most intense region of star formation can be found in the whole wider nebula complex. The wall itself is approximately 20 light years in length. This version of the Cygnus wall is currently shot in primarily Ha (Ionised Hydrogen) and Oiii (Ionised Oxygen) and therefore coloured using the HOO with additional O added to the blue channel. My longer term plan is to re-capture Oiii (Unfortunately I had some banding issues on my Oiii data due to an incorrect setting) and for longer and also to capture Sii (Ionised Sulphur) which I'll then use in a 'hubble palette' for a final narrowband image.
Where in the sky is it?
The Eagle Nebula can be found to the south in UK skies, found in the constellation of Serpens.
